Let me just start off right away. I am Felix van Leusden and I am a new (temporary) face at Recreational Bangkok Biking (RBB). I am 24 years old, live in Amsterdam and love to travel the world and ride bicycle. The reason why I am only temporarily working for RBB is because I am still studying at the University of Amsterdam and this internship is part of my education.
I never avoid challenges, and this is one of the many exciting and new challenges in my life: living and working in the vibrant, busy but amazing Thai capital.
Bangkok never sleeps and there is so much to discover in this city. Bangkok offers a huge variety of highlights, like many astonishing Buddhist temples, innumerable cozy local markets where you can eat very cheap and an exciting nightlife. It is amazing to see how lively the Thai capital is and you never get bored in this fantastic city.
The reason why I ended up at RBB is my interest in tourism, Asia and cycling. This is my first time in Thailand and from stories I heard from friends, Bangkok is very busy and crowded (which is absolutely true). Because of that reason I was very curious how it is possible that bicycle tours in Bangkok are so popular. Now that I have been working here for a couple of months, I totally understand. Biking through non-touristy Bangkok, accompanied by an enthusiastic and informative guide who can tell you everything about the city, is the best way to explore the Big Mango. You will see so many fascinating spots you will never see as a tourist. For example the ‘Green Lung’ of Bangkok which is visited during our popular ‘Colors of Bangkok‘ tour. A quiet and green area, just a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Believe me, a visit to Bangkok is not complete without one of the Bangkok Biking bicycle adventures!
I am very grateful that RBB gave me this opportunity and to be part of this amazing experience. Thank you for reading and maybe I can soon welcome you on one of our bicycle adventures in the ‘City of Angels’!
