Preparation and Local Hidden Gems
Your tour begins at our comfortable office and lounge on Rama III Road. After selecting your bicycle and receiving a safety briefing, we set off into the city. As soon as we leave the main roads, our first stop is a typical local temple tucked away from the crowds. We then pedal past the fascinating “train graveyard” and through close-knit communities.
One of the highlights is a visit to Talad Khlong Toei, the largest fresh market in Bangkok. Your senses will come alive as you experience the vibrant colors and aromatic spices of this hidden gem. It is one of the city’s best-kept secrets, and you will have plenty of time to capture incredible photos of the daily hustle and bustle.
Nature and Green Spaces in the Business District
From Khlong Toei to Benjakitti Forest Park
After exploring the market, we cross the bustling Rama IV Road. This leads us toward the modern Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and into the tranquil Benjakitti Forest Park. This park is a masterpiece of urban design. Here, we take a well-deserved break and enjoy views of the skyline reflected in the park’s serene waters.
Cycling the “Green Mile” to Lumpini Park
We continue our journey along the “Green Mile”, an elevated path for pedestrians and cyclists. It connects Benjakitti Forest Park to the famous Lumpini Park. As we cycle across, we look down upon Thanon Witthayu, also known as Wireless Road. This is one of the most expensive streets in the capital and is home to numerous international embassies and five-star hotels.
The “Central Park” of Bangkok and Local Life
Meeting the Residents of Lumpini Park
As we descend from the elevated path, we enter Lumpini Park, often called the “Central Park of Bangkok.” While cycling through this green oasis, you may see locals practicing Tai Chi or yoga. If we are lucky, we will also encounter some of the park’s most famous permanent residents: the water monitor lizards. Although they may look intimidating, they are generally harmless when left undisturbed.
After our break, we continue cycling through small communities and stop for a delicious Thai lunch at a local restaurant. We finish the ride at approximately 12:30 back at our office and lounge.
